If I admit hacking the serial number of Lex Libris, is that admissible as evidence to the courts of men? Well, if that’s the case, I won’t admit any. So let’s just say, I went to the remotest barrio to help a classmate tweak his computer and enhance his studies of the Philippine law. Let’s talk about the Philippine judicial system. The Lex Libris (literally translated as legal library or law library) is an electronic compilation of the Supreme Court decisions dating back to the 1900s up to present. We had court decisions written in Spanish until the language became English, but never, not once in the Filipino language. We are the only country in the world that does not use its own national language to express legal decisions. Legal decisions are the reasoning of the nation’s people, and I still wonder why, up to now we are not using the language of the critical mass. Indonesia has almost the same age of our justice system but they are progressing in leaps and bounds primarily because they use their own language to write the decisions of the court. Indonesia always has a ‘touch-base’ of her people. (Why do we refer to countries as females, do they have vaginas? Okay, so I always digress, so I always have the attention span of a gold fish which is ten seconds. I can’t help it). Maybe, we need somebody like Erap to infiltrate the Supreme Court. What ya think?
